Reporting to the Logistics Lead, the Material Handler is responsible for material flow, shipping /receiving and inventory while focusing on continuous improvements This is a hands-on role that will be an integral part of the inventory/shipping/receiving department.
- Receiving product and putting material away, rotating stock
- Cycle Counting and Physical Inventory
- Filling orders, material shortages, kitting production & sales order
- Packaging of material to be shipped
- Create shipping documentation
- Maintain cleanliness and general appearance of self and designated work areas
- Maintain 6S in work area
- Maintain proper levels of stock to include: locations, levels, and items
- Completes tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains on time delivery to customer
- Complete required ERP/computer transaction and reports
- Operate material handling equipment as required
- Must be knowledgeable in the effective use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and concepts to assist in process improvements, both within AFL, and externally at our customers/suppliers.
- Serve as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement.
- EHS and Safety knowledge and compliance
- All other duties as assigned
- Must adhere to all company policies and safety rules.
- Initiate Corrective Actions Plans, Process Change Orders, shutdown/restarts and follows through to completion
- Maintain documentation for responsible area.
- Attention to detail in all tasks required for the job.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
Skills/Requirements - A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work independently and effectively coordinate multiple tasks and changing priorities/ interruptions

The physical demands of this job require constant keying and most input, frequent simple grasping, pushing/pulling, reaching at or below shoulder level, sitting, standing, walking and writing and occasional power grasping, reaching or working above the shoulder level, use of feet to operate foot controls, climbing, bending squatting/kneeling and twisting. Position requires frequent lifting demands of up to 25 pounds and constant carrying demands of up to 50 feet and occasional lifting demands of 26 to 50 pounds and occasional carrying demands of up to 1 foot. Working conditions are predominately a manufacturing environment with exposure noise, heat/cold, and dirt/dust.
