Summary: Structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, key systems, networks, and wireless. Completes any adds, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts. Installation and maintenance of equipment. Engineering of new projects. Installs Central Office equipment including: iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures. Occasionally performs outside plant installation.
A Technician II will be experienced in many aspects of the business. He/She will completes assignments given by a Technician III or IV independently and works under their supervision. They will runs cables, builds ironwork, racking, AC (receptacles in the bays), and mounting of equipment Major Responsibilities / Duties Staging all the equipment and inventorying material for accuracy. Ensure the safety, quality, and efficiencies of our crew. Manage Inventory of Assigned tools Ensure that all assigned tools are current on calibration Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL derstands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecommunications Skills/Requirements High school diploma min. Two years of field experience in a central office environment. Experience in installing bays, overhead cabling systems, running cable and knowledge of the various stitches used to secure cabling to cable rack. An understanding and ability to make terminations on various cabling (switch board, Coax and cat5 and 6 cables) Knowledge and care of working with DC power and the proper handling and cleaning of fiber optic cabling
