This group provides site development, engineering, and construction expertise, integrated services, and fiber optic products. Operations department is directly responsible for the safety, efficient, and effective execution of engineering specifications, ensuring telecommunications equipment installation is performed within the budget of the project, within the timeframe set by the customer, and in accordance with customer methods, procedures, and standards.

The Operations Supervisor - Enterprise is an AFL entry level management position that is a direct representative to the customer`s foremen and engineers, balancing AFL resources with customer expectations and requirements. The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Regional Operations Manager or Regional Director and is responsible for project financial and resource allocation for projects assigned to the associated area of responsibility or turf. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor may be 10 or more Technicians or Incharge Technicians.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:

  • To ensure activities comply with all company EHS policies and appropriate OSHA regulations, and to perform operational risk assessments to ensure that risks are mitigated in activities of Operations personnel
  • Ensure subordinates and Technicians are adequately trained to perform activities to AFL and local standards.
  • Coordinates efforts of subordinates (AFL employees and/or sub-contractors) with the customer, site contact, AFL call center and other disciplines within the organization to maximize efficiencies and customer satisfaction of installations.
  • Interacts with customer and AFL employees ensuring that the installation product meets customer expectations and set standards, and AFL is compensated for agreed services.
  • Determine appropriateness of additional compensation requests (change orders) from customers when the scope of installation changes or other factors when AFL should be additionally compensated.
  • Coordinates with purchasing, distribution, subordinates and other disciplines within the organization to efficiently manage the ordering and receiving of materials.
  • Monitor installation materials to ensure that materials used are at or below budgeted costs.
  • Schedule resources to ensure that hours used are at or below budgeted installation hours.
  • Review for accuracy and approve subordinate`s timesheets.
  • Ensure through daily monitoring that AFL project tracking programs and other required computer based programs are updated including subordinate dashboards.
  • Assists in providing training, work direction, and problem solving assistance for other field employees.
  • Perform human resource functions as AFL`s representative including evaluating performance of subordinates, recommend retention, recommend advancement, and recommend pay changes.
  • Effectively communicate to subordinates, peers, and higher management all pertinent issues.
  • Materials and potential mops scheduling and tracking.
  • TEO review for scheduling of completion dates
  • Resolves customer concerns.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.




Skills/Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of Telecom experience
  • Good computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn various systems.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal, leadership qualities, inter-personal skills, basic understanding of business finance (OP, GP, Budgeting, Estimating).
  • The ability to manage several business accounts.
  • Think critically and problem solve.
  • Handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Good judgment.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Customer services skills.
  • Knowledge of IP standards.
  • Significant travel to/from customer locations, requiring some rare over-night travel can be expected.
  • Working normally in an office environment, though frequently required at customer sites. Normally a forty hour (plus) week, and being accessible outside these hours by mobile phone to response to emergent customer needs
