Job Description DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Operations Department is directly responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of engineering specifications, ensuring telecommunications equipment installation is performed within the budget of the project, within the timeframe set by the customer, and in accordance with customer methods, procedures, and standards. POSITION SUMMARY: The Material Expeditor orders and tracks AFL material purchases to ensure all materials are received by dates set by Engineering and agreed by Operations by following up with vendors, and communicates any deficiencies to warehouse and Operations. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES: To process the ordering of materials ensuring accuracy and adherence to job budgets To compare Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) to ordered materials to double check that correct materials are ordered. To review AFL and customer computer databases in order to provide material status to Ops Coordinators, Ops Supervisors, and Ops Managers. To ensure materials are received from vendors prior to job installation start. To track receipt of all AFL ordered materials not expected to meet delivery promise dates, and recommend expedited shipping as appropriate. To notify the warehouse of expedited stock orders requesting rapid shipping of the materials. To follow up on materials shipped by the vendor but not received or posted in AFL computer database by acquiring proof of delivery then requesting warehouse process the receipt. To request return material authorization from vendors, as necessary, and forward the authorization to the warehouse to return the material. Skills/Requirements High School or equivalent. Ability to quickly learn systems (both internal and external) Knowledge of inventory control Think critically and problem solve. Handle confidential/ sensitive information. Good judgment. Organizational skills. Customer service skills. WORK REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS: Use of standard office equipment. Finger and wrist dexterity. Walking.
