Job Description

The Associate Product Manager assists the Product Manager in managing a subset of a product or group of products managed under the Product Manager, including the planning and managing of the lifecycle of this subset of product or group of products. The Associate Product Manager also coordinates product marketing efforts through sales, application engineering and customer service.

As a member of the product management team, he/she will coordinate processes with other functional groups leading to the successful delivery of product(s) to market. For released product(s), he/she will assist the Product Manager in the analysis, planning, maintenance and marketing of the product(s) throughout the product lifecycle, including pricing decisions, products P&L performance and product growth strategies. The Associate Product Manager will also work directly with Customers, the Sales Team and Applications Engineers, to gather market requirements and define new products or new markets for similar products to meet the business mid-term and long-term goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning and marketing of a subset of a product or group of products at all stages of the product lifecycle, this may include pricing decisions at the direction of the Product Managers.
  • Coordinate processes with other functional groups leading to the successful delivery of product(s) to market.
  • Gather market requirements and define new products or new markets for similar products to meet OCAs mid- and long-term goals.
  • Traveling to meet Customers, conduct and attend trade shows or seminars is necessary.




Skills/Requirements
  • BS Engineering (mechanical, electrical, optical or equivalent) or BBA
  • Minimum 5 7 years of experience working in an Applications/Design/R&D/Process Engineer, Technical Sales Support or fiber optic communications product/solution/network planning role
  • Familiar with fiber optic communications technologies and product
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong presentations and technical writing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Has knowledge and experience in Sales and Marketing
  • Understands how to profitably price products for markets
