Job Description

AFL is seeking 2 Human Resources Interns for Spring term, January - May 2014.

AFL, a leading fiber optics telecommunications company has openings for 2 Human Resources Interns Duncan, SC facility. These internships will provide real-world HR experience and help prepare an individual to enter the workplace as a HR Assistant. This experience will allow the individual to be exposed to many facets of Human Resources which may include on-boarding, employee relations, employee records maintenance, policy and procedure development, personnel administration, data analysis, recruiting, and training.

The Intern will gain valuable insight into how the HR function supports business operations.

Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for providing assistance and completing projects for the HR department in some of the following areas:

  • Benefits administration
  • Recruiting
  • Orientation
  • Training & Development
  • Systems implementation
  • Employee Relations




Skills/Requirements
  • Must be a current student at an accredited four year college or university, preferably studying Human Resources, or a recent graduate (within the past year).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills.
  • High degree of confidentiality and the ability to work independently.
  • A serious, self-motivated, goal-driven individual who doesn`t require constant supervision
  • Has great attention to detail.
  • Must possess intermediate level Excel and data analysis skills (able to create pivot tables and Excel charts and graphs).
  • Must be proficient in PowerPoint (able to create animations, custom charts and graphics) and able to present/organize data analysis in an organized fashion.
  • Proficient in the use of other Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn HRIS.
