Job Description

Under the general direction of the Field Service Manager, the Drop Technician is responsible for Fiber Optic Drop Cables from the TELECOM plant to the customer premise.

Also, the incumbent is also responsible to deliver first class customer service and committed to safety and quality.


  • Providing unparalleled customer service excellence
  • Use ladders or bucket trucks to access aerial locations
  • Accessing Fiber Optic Terminals to connect cables
  • Adhering to existing practices and standards to ensure consistent quality
  • Operate equipment and vehicle in a safe manner
  • Ensure vehicle and test equipment are maintained in excellent working condition
  • Trouble shoot technical issues swiftly and accurately
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Work in enclosed spaces and aloft
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
  • Enhancing Organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL

Working Conditions

  • Physically demanding workload
  • Work location: Work in locations that preclude the ability to return home
  • Work hours: various shifts as assigned (morning, evening, weekend, and statutory holidays)
  • Travel is required
