Responsibilities:
Proficiently operates magnetic resonance (MR) equipment used to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures. Must perform and be proficient with all of the following procedures if performed at assigned facility which include angiography, thoracic, abdomen, venous, cardiac, functional MRI, gated, interventional, breast MRI, fetal MR, and spectroscopy. Obtains medical history from patients, compares requisitions to physicians orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy, and prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist. Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides magnet protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies. Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
Qualifications:
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). OR Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for all hospital employees and lead employees in the medical groups. Non-lead employees in the medical groups need to obtain within 2 years. AND Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). May obtain within 6 months based on department discretion. Associate`s degree in Radiologic Technology. Requires 2 years of experience in a MRI Technologist role. Advanced knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and magnetic safety. Proficient in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility). Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members. Ability to work independently. Intermediate computer skills.
Scheduled Hours: To fill in as needed - from 6 am - 10 pm, Saturdays, and call.
