Job Description
Imagine yourself…
- Performing basic obstetric and pelvic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including: genetic sonograms, basic fetal echocardiography, umbilical cord flow studies, amniotic fluid indices, portable imaging, transvaginal ultrasounds, and biophysical profiles. Assisting Perinatologist in performing invasive procedures, i.e., amniocentesis and sonohysterograms.
- Possessing the ability to improvise non-standard techniques when necessary with independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the performance of ultrasonography for diagnosis.
- Reviewing medical records to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders prior to examination.
- Developing a competency to perform scans of various anatomical areas. Must be able to identify cross sectional human anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal, to establish initial evaluation of sonograms.
- Participating in department quality assurance studies.
- Preparing and maintaining records of ultrasound examinations and special projects. This includes documenting billing codes of performed procedures to ensure accurate patient charges.
General Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) granted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) OR successful completion of an accredited program for diagnostic sonography or the equivalent experience and training that is accepted by the ARDMS and must be registry eligible.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification granted by the American Heart Association
- Current certification in nuchal translucency / first trimester screen certification or obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Must be able to obtain all fetal echocardiogram requirements within 12 months of employment

- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.
- Must have a positive attitude and promote teamwork within the department.
- Must have above average computer skills
