Performs variety of tasks in the erection of steel or wood structures involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, and cutting and attaching insulating material. Under the supervision of a carpenter, constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and steel using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, conforming to local building codes.
Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes. Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins or glue. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Experience in structural framing (wood or steel), interior finishing, form building, and/or concrete finishing.
Willingness to accept and follow directions.
Initiative to keep busy with assigned tasks.
Tolerance for temperature extremes.
Ability to perform tasks without repeated instruction.
Strength to perform heavy work.
Field of vision sufficient to complete necessary tasks safely.
Have to provide your own tools.
Physical demands are: handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, climbing, crawling, balancing, dexterity
