The work of the Mechanic Plant Maintenance classification includes the following: Lay-out, planning and execution of the complex maintenance assignments requiring the skills of one or more of the maintenance trades, such as electricians, electronics technician, plumber, steamfitter, carpenter, painter, auto mechanic, millwright, heating and air-conditioning or other similar skilled journeyman trades. Such duties shall include among others the necessary sequence of operations to trouble shoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install and adjust any building component, plant equipment, automotive and ground equipment, machinery, accessories, parts, etc., and explaining work procedures to personnel assigned to assist in such work. Works according to company regulations and procedures and instructions from Crew Chief or supervisor. Completes forms connected to his work assignments according to established procedures and will communicate with other company personnel as required in a manager designated by the Company.
Performs the following duties as assigned: de-icing of aircraft windshields; pushing out/towing of aircraft and related guide man functions; connecting/removing ground power and ground start units.
High school diploma or GED.
Thirty-six months (36) or more experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic, carpenter, electrician, millwright, painter, plumber, stationary engineer, or welder.
Valid State drivers license.
Possesses the applicable state or city license.
Possesses a current Operating Engineer certificate if working in a maintenance base.
Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays and day-off.
Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language or language native to geographical location.
Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access priviledges to airport security Identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US customs security badges, if applicable.
