Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to: Accounts payable - understanding general ledger accounts and ensuring costs are properly assigned/coded, reconciling and balancing AP accounts, and ensuring all payment terms are met. Payroll - working with a third party payroll company to ensure timesheet information is collected, reviewed, accurate, and complete prior to submission; preparing reports in the format required by payroll company, setting up project numbers for new hire timesheets, and assisting employees with timesheet access issues. Banking - reconciling bank statements, petty cash, and credit card transactions, and processing electronic submission of cash receipts to bank. Will be depended upon to research, analyze, understand, and resolve problems and/or discrepancies related to accounting/payroll issues. Will work closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure employee information is updated and accurate, and with the Contracts Department to ensure project numbers are set up promptly and accurately in employee timesheets. Responsible for managing and adhering to all deadlines, and responding to employee inquiries regarding a variety of issues. Candidate must be able to utilize Deltek Costpoint for all accounting and payroll transactions.
Education: Bachelor`s degree from an accredited university strongly preferred.
Allowable Substitution: Five years of experience working in the field of accounting, two of which should be specifically related to the position requirements.
Experience: Deltek/Costpoint experience strongly preferred. Basic understanding of GAAP. Solid understanding of and experience with general ledger accounting, payroll processing, and working with 3rd party payroll companies. Experience in the Government contracting environment preferred.
Other: Must be a self-starter capable of prioritizing tasking to ensure all deadlines are met. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, communications, and interpersonal skills. Strong MS Excel skills required. Must be highly reliable in terms of attendance. Ability to maintain focus and remain calm during high volume workload periods. Must be able to work well in a team environment, and respond positively to multiple inquiries. Strong multi-tasking, workload management, and time management skills a must. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
