Summary: The Brazing Engineer provides brazing and assembly process assistance under the direction of the Operations Manager. He/she is responsible for the development of brazing systems and technology to ensure that services provided meet the contractual requirements established by customers and procedures. He/she is also responsible for supporting the sales function with braze related issues and quotations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Evaluate and solve braze related issues.

• Develop standardized brazing processes. Integrate these procedures into the plant level travelers and the BMS as required.

• Provide technical support to Sales and assist with braze related quotations.

• Work with customers with braze related issues.

• Develop processes for new work, in accordance with customer and/or BMS requirements.

• Develop new brazing technology.

• Provide input to the Quality Group with respect to brazing processes.

• Maintain competency by attending seminars, trade shows, technical forums, and professional training.

Requirements:

• Education: Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) in metallurgical, materials, or welding engineering.

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in thermal processing with emphasis on brazing processes (furnace, induction, torch, etc.) required.

• Experience in aerospace industry strongly preferred.

• Must be capable of writing procedures for brazing materials in accordance with customer requirements.

• Must be knowledgeable in fixture design as it relates to brazing.

• Must be capable of making written recommendations for improving manufacturing and quality system procedures related to brazing.

• Must be capable of attaining external approvals and credentials as required by the customer (such as Designated Supplier Quality Representative or Certified Welding/Brazing Inspector).

• Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Requires effective communication skills for interfacing with all management levels, shop supervision, and customers.

• Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

• Work Environment: General office environment and some exposure to shop environment including heat, noise, humidity, fumes, etc. Must be able to work overtime, any shift and any day of the week.

Knowledge of computer applications is required.
