JOB SUMMARY Under direction of the Infrastructure and Database Manager, this position is responsible for performing the efforts of the Application Engineering team to ensure the banks technology solutions are designed, implemented and supported to acceptable specifications. The Application Engineer will participate in new system reviews and make recommendations on environment designs and/or vendor selection, implement these systems using industry best practices related to security, performance and manageability. They are also accountable for maintaining service level agreements as defined by IT Management. Operates in full compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations and laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering requirements. Responsible to report any procedure or process that doesnt meet regulatory requirements including fraud, whether suspected or confirmed, to management. This reporting can be done directly to any member of management, including Human Resources or Corporate Security, or can be reported through Associateds anonymous Ethics Hotline.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Support various middleware technologies to ensure system availability and stability by responding to and resolving Tier II support calls from ITS Help Desk and ITSM tickets within the service level agreements established with the business units. Will also provide after-hours On call support on an established schedule, including some weekends, resolve critical business outages and provide incident and problem management for application and web server related issues.
2. Implement core system middleware solutions, automated jobs and processes, and new technologies as approved by management to ensure functionality is maintained and/or improved. Will also be responsible to correctly sundown unused system components after determining and eliminating all dependencies to other systems.
3. Communicate concise information to other staff members regarding bank systems to ensure overall staff knowledge continues to increase, allowing better customer service long-term by cross-training other staff on technologies they are not familiar with by facilitating brown bags, hands on training sessions, and informing them of sources of additional information they can use. Also responsible for written documentation of new and existing systems which may include: system diagrams, system overviews, knowledgebase entries, service level agreements, maintenance windows, and support contact information.
4. Provide incident and problem management for application and web server related issues. Perform reporting and project management duties in accordance of ABCs Project Management methodology and ITS Production Control standards, which includes: time reporting, resource planning, and requests for change, daily operation call updates, and other project management deliverables. Provide timely and accurate status updates to management for review. 5. Design and plan organizations core enterprise middleware services, including web and application server technologies, to meet strategic goals. This will be accomplished by providing tactical and strategic input on overall planning of project initiatives as well as evaluating and recommending changes to current / future middleware environments
6. Research new technologies, understand their viability within the middleware infrastructure, and recommend future projects to management related to those technologies. Utilize research findings to suggest improvements on new and existing systems based on the new technologies. 7. Act as project manager and/or provide expert consultation on complex projects, being considered a top-level subject matter expert on technologies who relies on experience and expert judgment to accomplish project goals. 8. Engage external vendors to improve the overall system middleware though support calls and enhancement requests as approved by management.
Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Associates degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Preferred Education Bachelor`s degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience 3-5 years systems engineering experience in a complex environment consisting of a large diverse population of users, computers, applications and technologies.

Special Skill Requirements Computer Skills/Licensing/Certifications/Bonding Understanding and knowledge of many of the following technologies: Scripting (PowerShell, WinBatch, VBS, DOS, Perl) SSL Certificates Microsoft products such Windows XP/7/2003/2008 Operating Systems, Microsoft AD, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, IIS 6&7, and .Net configuration Security best practices (web application security scans) Third-party management tools Load-balancers and other network devices (firewalls and switches)
Other Duties and Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel 5% - Occasional travel is required between data centers with occasional overnight required. Occasional travel to other key banking sites or vendor locations.
