JOB SUMMARY
Provides coaching, mentoring and management direction and oversight to a group of Employee Benefits Consultants (Consultants) to ensure sales and retention objectives are met or exceeded. Recruits new consultants to join the organization in accordance with established goals, directions and processes. Also, actively participates in setting the direction and assists in the oversight for the client service and marketing/carrier relations activities related to the business that the team is engaged in. Provides hands-on leadership to direct and indirect reports (dotted line responsibility for service and marketing functions) and works closely to cultivate and manage relationships with insurance companies and other vendors.

Creates a team vision and goals; with a positive and optimistic attitude toward challenges and changes. Sets aggressive goals and holds others accountable for achieving new business targets and maintaining persistency levels. Assists in the generation of new business, directly and indirectly, as well as referrals. Builds relationships with customers, business line leaders and others in the company at all levels that will result in sales opportunities for members of the team and mutual success and achievement of established goals. Exhibits exceptional leadership qualities and maintains a strong results focus.

Operates in full compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations and laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering requirements. Responsible to report any procedure or process that doesnt meet regulatory requirements including fraud, whether suspected or confirmed, to management. This reporting can be done directly to any member of management, including Human Resources or Corporate Security, or can be reported through Associateds anonymous Ethics Hotline.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Manages a group of Consultants including coaching them to superior performance for sales and retention results. Provides hands on leadership and assists in the generation of new business, directly and indirectly, as well as referrals. 
2. Sets aggressive goals and holds Consultants accountable for achieving new business and retention targets and maintaining persistency levels. Conducts annual goal setting process with Consultants and monitors and reports progress monthly. Takes appropriate disciplinary action if performance standards are not being met. 
3. Reviews sales reports and tools and uses the data to coach for better production from sales team. Reviews appointment activity, and closing ratios of Consultants and provides coaching and direction to achieve goals and/or improve results where needed. 
4. Assists in recruiting potential Consultants to join the organization, including participating actively in the screening and interview process as well as onboarding and training new hires. 
5. Collaborates with other sales managers, department managers, business line leaders and staff across the footprint and in other departments of the organization to ensure best practices are shared and implemented. 
6. Works closely with the marketing and service department(s) to support sales and training efforts. 
7. Represents the company and cultivates strong relationships with insurance companies and other vendors. Builds relationships with customers, business line leaders and others in the company at all levels that will result in sales opportunities for members of the team and mutual success and achievement of established goals. 
8. Works closely with our Business Development & Project Management Coordinator and sales administration and development to ensure that sales support, public relations and marketing materials are effective and being actively utilized.


Qualifications
 Minimum Education
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Education
Advanced Degree

Minimum Experience
5-7 years of Sales Management experience

Preferred Experience
7-10+ years of Sales Management experience in the insurance industry

Special Skill Requirements Computer Skills/Licensing/Certifications/Bonding
Must either have or obtain within 3 months of hire Life/Health insurance licensure.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Adherence to Company policy and procedures is required.
Perform duties in accordance with the Vision & Values of Associated Banc-Corp.
Regular attendance is required.
Basic math and reading skills, and attention to detail.
Use of basic office equipment (e.g., photocopier, voice mail, "fax" machine, calculator, multiple line telephones, typewriter, computers etc.).
Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.

Supervision
Direct = 10-15 Indirect = 20-30

Travel
Frequent day travel; overnight travel 3-5 nights per month. Valid drivers license required.
