JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized, responsible and confidential functions in the areas of payroll and benefit administration. All functions are necessary to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and/or benefits processing for the corporation. Credentials include knowledge and application of principles, methods and practices of financial record-keeping, payroll and fringe benefit administration. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Performs payroll/benefit-related duties requiring independent judgment and initiative while meeting strict deadlines.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The following are essential job accountabilities: 1. Respond to customer inquires in a professional and timely manner. This includes researching, analyzing, and resolving, both routine and complex questions and concerns. 2. Provides support and assistance to regional Human Resources, corporate tax, finance and legal departments. Must have strong knowledge of corporate HR forms, pay practices and policies. 3. Process manual entry of payroll maintenance and audit changes to payroll output documents for accuracy. 4. Troubleshoot system error messages and reports. 5. Ensures payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner. 6. Process manual checks as requested by Human Resources or Legal. 7. Review system generated payroll reports to ensure proper YTD and W-2 reporting (i.e. Wage and Tax Report, W-2 Management Report, Payroll Exception Report). 8. Prepare and process garnishments. 9. Check personnel time sheets utilizing an electronic time and attendance software product for compliance with policy, state and regulatory requirements. 10. Maintain accurate payroll records and colleague files, including manual check log. 11. Verify employment eligibility for all new hires. 12. Responsible for administration of the benefits plans such as: Benefits enrollment and change processing Counsel colleagues on benefit offerings and plan design/cost Servicing colleague benefits inquiries Annual open enrollment support 13. Performs specialized duties as related to benefits. These duties include: COBRA maintenance and knowledge, leave of absence tracking, retiree benefits administration, management of severance and workforce management agreements, and PTO/Sick accrual administration. 14. Administer the 401(k) plan by assisting with colleague questions and concerns. 15. Audit all benefit information to ensure timely and accurate data entry, data integrity, premium payments and account reconciliations. 16. Consult with insurance carriers and other third parties to resolve colleague benefit issues. 17. Maintain current, working knowledge of all applicable benefits eligibility rules and legislation applicable to benefits. 18. Participate in client servicing review meetings and attend onsite client benefits fairs/meetings when requested. 19. Proactively identifies, recommends and takes initiative to improve processes to ensure continual improvement and efficiency. 20. Completes other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS Minimum Education: Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or Business; or equivalent education and experience. Minimum Experience: 1 year customer service experience and computerized payroll and/or benefits experience. Preferred Experience: 2 years customer service experience and computerized payroll and/or benefits experience. Minimum Field-of-Expertise: Payroll processing, benefit administration, and audit procedures.
