Customer Service Representative The Customer Service Representative responds to inquiries about policy provisions, company procedures, requirements for processing changes, conversions, and exchanges from policy applicants, policyholders, field force, and home office staff to contribute to the attainment of Assurant Health revenue and profitability targets. Assist policy holders, field force, and home office staff by answering inquiries and to resolve problems related to changes, conversions, reinstatements and exchanges on State Farm or Assurant Health policies. Research inquiries accessing various computer screens, manuals, insurance product information and applies policies and procedures appropriately. Contact various internal departments such as Underwriting, Policy Holder Services, Licensing, Commissions, Claims, Billing, Records, and Marketing to obtain information necessary to respond to customer or agent questions or problems. Communicate with involved parties by phone, fax, email, or in-person to identify the problem or issues, gather requisite information to resolve the problem or forward it to the appropriate department for resolution or for authorization to accommodate or deny an exception. Update the computer system with information related to the status of customers policies, policy applications.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Requires 6 month to 1 year of customer service or call center experience. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively perform customer service duties. Requires strong interpersonal abilities to effectively deal with irate callers. Requires ability to process complex time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and to effectively communicate the related required actions to a broad audience. Requires a High School Diploma, or equivalent work experience. Requires understanding of customer service techniques and health insurance concepts. Requires knowledge of Assurant Health insurance products and competitor products. Requires a comprehensive understanding of customer service processes, analysis of data, and the ability to implement procedure to improve operations based on operating data.
