Position Summary
Under the direction of the Cath Lab Supervisor, the RN performs professional nursing in a safe and therapeutic manner in the care and treatment of patients; provides safe, efficient and accurate technical support within the department and gives guidance and direction to auxiliary personnel.
Job Qualifications
Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)
1. Colorado RN license in good standing
2. BLS required within conditional period
3. ACLS required within one year of hire
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
1. Demonstrated physical and mental health to apply nursing theories, procedures and standards to clinical practice
2. Basic and advanced understanding of anatomy and physiology related to cardiology
3. Ability to work in a team environment with individuals of varying skill levels
4. Ability to function accurately, safely and effectively during high-risk procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab
Experience
Minimum of two years experience in Critical Care nursing required, with one year in cardiac Cath Lab preferred
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
Includes all standard hospital medical equipment used in catheterization procedures, interventional procedures and permanent pacemaker implantations; plus all patient physiologic/hemodynamic monitoring systems. X-ray equipment involves safety devices and equipment for radiation protection. Includes the use of computers for report generation and integration into hospital data systems.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
1. Provides Cath Lab and Recovery services to young adults and older patients on a scheduled basis, Monday through Friday with emergency coverage on an on-call basis.
2. Physical working environment may include, but not limited to any of the following: chemical, electrical, mechanical, explosive, radiation, etc.
3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time with the additional weight of a lead apron. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
4. The employee must be able to frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 lbs, and occasionally support, push, pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a table, or transferring from a table to a bed).
5. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, and touch.
