POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Administrators role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house data and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks and wide area networks across the organization. In addition, the Network Administrator will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Works under the supervision of the Director of Technical Infrastructure and in conjunction with the Network and Systems Administration staff, Applications Analyst staff, Technical Support Analysts and the Manager of Telecommunications to design, implement and maintain the network and systems infrastructure at BCH. The Network Administrator is required to be on a 24/7 pager rotation and overtime may be necessary to fulfill job expectations.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
1. Bachelor`s degree from accredited University in Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent information technology degree program.
2. Cisco Certifications a plus.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, ETC.)
A valid Colorado driver`s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
1. Collaborate with management and leaders to assess near and long-term network planning needs.
2. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
3. Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
4. Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPS, and other hardware.
5. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
6. Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
7. Interact and negotiate with vendors, partners, and contractors to secure network products and services.
8. Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
9. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
10. Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
11. Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
12. Manage servers, including database, e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
13. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
14. Participate in managing all network security solutions.
EXPERIENCE
1. Three plus years working in medium to large scale networking environment.
2. Experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design, implementation & maintenance
3. Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
4. Hands-on technical knowledge of network, server, and PC operating systems.
5. Knowledge of IP telephony/messaging integration including Unified Communications a plus.
6. Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
7. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

2. Troubleshooting Network connectivity issues, Monitoring Network activity, Configuring Routers, Switches, and Firewalls.

4. Ability to Install & configure routers, switches & APs.
5. Troubleshooting Fiber/copper cabling issues.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
1. Physical requirements include the ability to lift fifty pounds on one foot for several minutes
2. Manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination capable of manipulating small switches, cables and hand tools in small areas.
3. Will need to travel to remote sites (all in Boulder county)
4. Audio acuity for telephone use and detecting alarms.
WORK CONDITIONS
1. Rotating On-call availability.
2. Sitting for extended periods of time.
3. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
4. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
