Shift:Days - 8 hour shifts
Hours:Monday - Friday between 0700-1730, Saturdays 0730-1200

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    Responsible for planning, organizing, executing and monitoring the daily operations in the Laboratory while maintaining the highest quality.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Education or Formal Training

    1. 4 years laboratory experience + Bachelors Degree OR
    2. 6 years laboratory experience + 60 college credit hours OR
    3. 10 years laboratory experience
    4. Copy of academic degree or transcript required for Bachelors Degree or college credit hours.

    Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

    Recognized national certification, preferred

    Knowledge, Skill and Ability

    1. Ability to perform personnel management duties including, but not limited to, disciplinary action, evaluations, reward and recognition.
    2. Ability to meet all accreditation requirements with minimal deficiencies for all accrediting agencies including, but not limited to, CLIA-88, College of American Pathologists, The Joint Commission, OSHA and Colorado Department of Health.
    3. Ability to meet demands from the Medical Director, Administrative Director, Administration and Laboratory Managers.
    4. Ability to work independently, under stress and meet multiple deadlines.
    5. Ability to delegate and act as a mentor for personnel in the department.
    6. Ability to inspire and motivate employees to provide exceptional customer service.
    7. Ability to work closely with pathologists and other physicians.
    8. Ability to analyze and refine processes throughout the department.
    9. Ability to problem solve.
    10. Ability to work cooperatively with health system patients, staff and laboratory staff.
    11. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
    12. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
    13. Knowledge of personnel laws and practices pertaining to expected level of participation in personnel supervisory activities.
    14. Knowledge of quality improvement concepts.
    15. Strong personnel management and communication skills (written and verbal).
    16. Knowledge of operations.
    17. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
    18. Knowledge of hospital process and procedure.

    Experience

    1. 4 years experience in the laboratory with Bachelors Degree OR
    2. 6 years laboratory experience + 60 college credit hours OR
    3. 10 years laboratory experience
    4. Computer experience preferred

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
    Laboratory equipment, telephone, computer and fax.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
    1. Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards: chemical, electronic, mechanical, biowaste, explosive, radiation, etc.
    2. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
    3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat, and sit.
    4. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
