Position Summary

Interpretation of information and services primarily at BCH Emergency Department for Spanish speaking patients and their families. The ED is the primary location, however interpretation services may be provided to other units on an emergency basis.

Job Qualifications

Education or Formal Training

1. Medical Terminology required

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

1. RN or LPN license required.

2. Completely bilingual in Spanish and English-including oral, reading and writing proficiency

3. Native Spanish speaker whenever possible

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

1. Able to translate the written word English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

2. Computer skills desirable.

3. Ability to effectively communicate to patients, families and co-workers.

Experience

Experience in a patient care setting desired.
