Engineering Supervisor II

Job Location: Winona, MN

Summary:
  • Must have intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, and computer system knowledge/experience

  • Will be able to own and lead manufacturing engineering support projects
  • Will demonstrate flexibility and support of department and customer work schedule changes (i.e. overtime, short term assignments on multiple shifts)
  • Will be able to support an all shift production atmosphere and demonstrate regular, consistent attendance
  • Will be able to sit and perform sedentary work involving the use of a computer for at least 4 hours each day, expected to be required 75% of the time.
  • Will be able to stand on feet for approximately 90% of shift on an intermittent basis, expected to be required 25% of the time.
  • Will demonstrate a good understanding of printed circuit board assembly and/or system integration test, debug and repair processes as required.
  • Will be able to meet specific technical knowledge of test equipment be able to develop basic programming knowledge of ICT and/or Functional Test Equipment to assist Test Engineer in program debug as required.
  • Will be able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • Will be able to travel up to 10% of the time including international travel as required.

Skills Required:
Responsible for supervising technical staff within test, support and/or production operations. Leads efforts to support and improve manufacturing processes, materials, machinery and tooling and production test debug in order to meet production schedules and quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Supervises a combination of technical staff which may include employees from areas such as debug, support, and/or production.
  • Acts as a mentor, coach and trainer.
  • Provides hands-on leadership with authority to recommend and perform disciplinary action up to and including terminations, assisting the area managers within Manufacturing Engineering Support, Sustaining Test Engineering and Production.
  • Responsible for developing and supporting departmental processes and ensures appropriate documentation is in place
  • Participates on Customer Support and Quality Improvement teams.
  • Performs performance appraisals for technicians, production co-workers, production team leaders, and/or coaches.
  • Monitors facility quality yields, output, and downtime to prevent and assist in problem solving
  • Recommends and selects new coworkers, promotes and reviews coworkers, and assists in orientating and training of new co-workers
  • Tracks training, cross-training, and capacity levels to assure the work area is capable of meeting daily operations schedule
  • Serves as a back-up to the immediate supervisor as needed
  • Utilizes project management skills when involved with multiple projects and shows the ability to delegate tasks and drive on-time completion
  • Works closely with Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and support staff to ensure product, test, debug and repair output and quality goals are met
  • Recognizes opportunities for continuous improvement and puts plans in place to achieve the new goals
  • Monitors and controls overtime
  • Supports management policy, philosophy, and objectives

Education Required:

  • Must have one of the following: technical degree and 3+ years previous electronics manufacturing engineering A 2-year technical degree experience and 1+ years leadership experience, or with a minimum of 8+ years manufacturing engineering experience and 1+ years leadership experience.
