SALARY GRADE: $78,150 - $108,630
Base salary is determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

LOCATION: Rapid City, SD

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Support the Director of Corporate Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer, with primary responsibility for identifying and monitoring compliance requirements across the enterprise. The role will be responsible for technology implementations and ongoing oversight of the company’s enterprise-wide, corporate compliance monitoring tool (GRC solution). Additionally, the position will be responsible for overseeing and implementing requirements under the FERC Compliance Programs, partnering with other key FERC compliance stakeholders to ensure program objectives are met.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director Corporate Compliance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review the company’s existing compliance requirements and programs to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Monitor the performance of the corporate compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, conducting periodic audits and taking appropriate steps to improve effectiveness.
  • Identify, monitor, coordinate and track compliance activities of enterprise-wide compliance functions.
  • Identify compliance control gaps and oversee the documentation, implementation, and testing of the enterprise compliance portfolio.
  • Manage the GRC solution, ensuring completeness and data accuracy, routinely partnering with compliance leads across the enterprise.
  • Coordinate audit-related tasks, partnering with applicable compliance stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal policies and controls.
  • Prepare and participate in quarterly presentations to company leadership, including the Corporate Compliance Committee and FERC Compliance Committee.
  • FERC compliance programs oversight, including but not limited to:
    • Capturing and monitoring FERC compliance requirements
    • Ensuring the annual onsite training is conducted
    • Leading and ensuring the bi-annual FERC Compliance Committee meetings are scheduled and conducted
    • Preparing and distributing the quarterly FERC compliance newsletter
    • Coordinating FERC compliance efforts with impacted stakeholders (i.e., legal, regulatory, operations, etc.)
    • Ensuring FERC compliance program policies are reviewed and updated annually

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives.
  • Participate in compliance department planning, project prioritization and administrative tasks.
  • Supervise compliance department staff, as assigned
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with varied business stakeholders and leadership, utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships, including but not limited to:
    • Information technology
    • Senior management and business unit leaders
    • Internal and external auditors
    • External consultants and vendors

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance or audit function is desired.
  • Technology literacy and familiarity with database systems is desired.
  • Supervisory experience is desired.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Managing workgroups for cross functional projects required.

EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university is desired. An equivalent combination of work experience, technical training/education and/or industry specific certifications may be substituted for the degree requirement.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge and understanding of regulated business environment.
  • Knowledge of corporate compliance programs, GRC solutions and support requirements.

SKILLS/ABILITY/OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Proficient technology skills, including utilization of GRC or related software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance requirements and regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to interpret and apply state and federal legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and materials with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
  • Possess unquestionable integrity and thrive in a dynamic team environment.

  • Ability to oversee and supervise work of one or more members of compliance staff, as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
