Speech and Language Pathology
Job Location: Michigan
Description
Speech and Language Pathology, diagnose and treat speech, language, swallowing and cognitive disorders. Counsels, educations and advises patients and their families regarding communicative functioning; and documents diagnostic reports and therapeutic progress according to established departmental procedures. Diagnosis, administers and interprets speech, language, cognitive, and oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders utilizing a variety of tests, such as, articulation, language, voice/resonance, fluency, cognitive communications skills, etc. Designs treatment plan and administers treatment to patients with speech, language and oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders. Counsels, educates and advises patients and their family members regarding communicative, cognitive and swallowing functioning; develops home programs for patient, as needed. Participates as a member of the inter-disciplinary rehabilitation team; attends chart rounds and departmental meeting. Documents diagnostic reports and therapeutic progress notes according to departmental procedures; codes information for billing purposes to ensure maximum reimbursement from third party payors. Researches and analysis patients' medical history from test performances, medical records, and case histories. Utilizes information to diagnosis and treat patients. Provides presentations and/or in-service education to professional staff, students, outside community, etc. May instruct and monitor speech and language pathology interns. Enhances professional expertise through seminars, workshops, conferences, reading, professional organizations, etc.
Must have Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology plus a certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Six to twelve months additional experience preferred.
