Technical Release Project Manager
Job Location: New York, NY
Description
The Release Project Manager will be an integral player in preparing upgrades for deployment to a real time trading and risk management system supporting institutional users worldwide. The ASP is a sophisticated environment that combines software with data processing and reporting services. The Release Project Manager will be responsible for planning releases and executing tests of both upgrades to the core software produced by the development teams as well as to supporting services developed by the Technical Operations team. The position requires hands-on technical and QA work, excellent project planning and management skills and top notch written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities include:
i. For each release, identify testing and deployment concerns and develop a project plan to address these issues and bring the release into production. The project plans must identify time frames, plans for resource allocation and clear milestones within the project.
- Execute the release project plans and provide regular updates to manager and other stakeholders.
- Report bugs and other problems found to appropriate teams and track issues to completion.
- Provide regular updates to direct manager and other stakeholders on progress of release and ETA's for milestone deliveries.
ii. Daily management of UAT environments, including the software installation and supporting services.
iii. Hands-on technical work in Unix/Linux environment using SQL, Unix shell, Perl scripting and other technologies.
iv. Develop and document procedures and process flows to improve overall quality, efficiency and reliability of Imagine ASP systems and data.
- Communicate procedures throughout ASP Technical Operations Team and provide training on new procedures and software features as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale IT projects.
* Excellent skills with Unix (including shell scripting), Perl scripting and Sybase Transact SQL programming.
* Experience in Financial Services highly desired
* Highly organized and detail oriented.
* Strong communication, client interaction, teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide leadership and support to teammates
