Assistant Licensed Physical Therapist 0590

Job Description:
We are seeking out a Assistant Licensed Physical Therapist that will work under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, the Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy treatment on appropriate hospital inpatients and outpatients or residents of long-term care facilities. The LPTA supervises volunteers, physical therapy assistant students and physical therapy aides. Maintains adequate materials, records and quality controls in accordance with hospital standards and Rehabilitation Services policies/procedures. Performs other duties as required. Must have a minimum of an Associate degree (2 years plus internship) from accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program at a recognized college or university no experience required but must have license/registration and have successfully pass North Carolina Physical Therapy Assistant Licensing examination. Must have a valid North Carolina Physical Therapy Assistant license. Must also have thorough knowledge of PT treatment, standards and procedures required. Must communicate the results of the treatment in notes and reports to the PT's, physicians, and others. Thorough knowledge of PT procedures is needed. Special training may be required to use certain types of equipment.

Ability to apply principles of life span growth to assess and interpret patient status and provide age appropriate care based on the patient's special needs. Please note that this is considered to be very heavy work: Transferring patient in excess of 100# requires using gait belt & assistance of other staff; frequent lifting/carrying of objects/patients up to 75#; occasionally climbing stairs, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, bending & reaching overhead; good manual/finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination of both hands for reaching, handling, fingering & feeling; corrected vision & hearing within 20 inches, distance vision (20 feet or more), side vision & depth perception; Home Health staff must possess ability to access non-handicapped equipped patient residences. Working under typical working conditions such as working indoors with occasional outdoor functions.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Routinely exposed to biohazardous materials which may include frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations & other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Exposure to high degree of noise while in whirlpool area. Moderate humidity in work place and occasional exposure to noxious odors, fumes, or other toxic conditions. Requires use of personal protective equipment defined as gloves, lab coat, face shield & gait belts. Home Health staff exposed to hazards of travel for home visits, less than desirable home environments, pets and weather.
