Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires a BS degree in microbiology or a related discipline with at least six years of relevant and productive experience in a related industry
  • MS preferred in immunology, virology, microbiology or a related discipline with at least two years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of standard requirements for vet. biologics as stated by 9CFR, EP, & VICH
  • Working knowledge of QC operations and testing methods in vaccinology
  • Hands-on technical skills in immunology, virology, microbiology, or molecular biology
  • Excellent written, interpersonal skills and communication skills required
  • Computer skills with experience in data manipulation using various software packages
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting QC environment
  • Ability to train and work closely with union personnel
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs raw material, finished product and in-process testing including immunoassay, virological and microbiological assays
  • Participates in interdepartmental assay transfer validation
  • Supervise and train staff and union specialists
  • Maintains laboratory supplies, ensuring no delays in testing due to insufficient stock
  • Serves as a backup to departmental group leader prepare end monthly reports, trending data and conducting investigations
  • Reviews and makes recommended revisions to validation protocols, reports, SOPs, special outlines, and Outlines of Production
  • Ensures that all testing methodologies used are in accordance with the appropriate regulatory requirements
  • Oversees the preparation and qualification of new reagents and references to support all assay needs in the Department of BioQC
  • Participates in special projects to support QC, Biological R&D, and Company goals
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, ensures calibration and submits workorders for repairs of instrumentation and equipment
