Controls Engineer
Job Location: Hopkinsville, KY
Reports to:
Plant Engineering Manager
Position Description:
Applies appropriate engineering and manufacturing technology to improve the reliability, productivity, and safety of all equipment and processes. Complete support of all process controls, including new and existing equipment, while meeting organizational goals on cost, safety and performance.
Responsibilities Include:
· Apply basic engineering principles & analyses to improve processes or solve manufacturing problems, with special emphasis in controls.
· Participate and/or coordinate improvement projects.
· Diagnose/troubleshoot electrical, electronic and computer controlled equipment.
· Maintain and manage all PLC programs, backups, and revision controls.
· Facilitate training of maintenance technicians in various areas of electronics, PLC, and electrical repair.
· Oversee the activities of outside contractors and maintenance technicians in regards to electrical and machine controls.
· Assure Brazeway is up to date on advanced technologies throughout the industry, as well as industry and government trends and regulations.
· Manage maintenance and capital budgets pertaining to electrical and controls.
· Perform other duties that support the service team as instructed by the Plant Engineering Manager.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
· 5 years experience as a Controls Engineer required, preferably with extrusion, heat exchanger brazing, and/or HVAC
· Must be proficient in the programming and troubleshooting of PC and PLC controlled equipment. Allen Bradley experience would be an asset
· Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge a plus
· Excellent communication, people, and written skills
· Strong desire to work in a team atmosphere
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
