Brazeway, Inc., a leading extruder of aluminum tubing and manufacturer of fabricated heat transfer components for the refrigeration, HVAC and automotive industries, has an immediate opening for a Quality Manager at our Hopkinsville, KY location.

Position Description:

Develop, lead,  and maintain the Plant Quality System. Assure training of every employee in the quality requirements of his/her job and the Tools of Quality.  Provide staff support to the plant supervision in day-to-day quality issues and lead problem resolution activities. Monitor plant performance metrics to assure compliance to plant objectives.

Responsibilities:

1.  Develop, lead, and maintain the Quality System for the plant and individual product lines or work centers and monitor systems to drive improvement in plant performance metrics.

2.  Assure training of every plant employee in, and keep records for:

          -Quality requirements of job--to meet  Quality objectives and the quality policy

          -Tools of Quality--especially SPC, Problem Solving, and Layered Process Audits (LPA)

3.  Provide staff support to the Shift Supervisors (who are directly responsible for ensuring compliance to the Quality System). Provide hands-on assistance to employees. Monitor SPC charts or other quality records. Report incidence of deviation or noncompliance to appropriate plant management.  Authorized to stop production if deviations are not promptly resolved.

4.  Conduct machine capability studies. Develop plans or seek assistance (manufacturing engineering, performance improvement teams, etc.) for any process not meeting the capability requirements.

5.  Inspection and testing:

           -Train and supervise quality auditors.

           -Inspect incoming materials.

           -Conduct various product tests in the lab.

           -Maintain inventory and accuracy of gauges and measuring equipment.

6.   Maintain complete and accurate customer and part quality files. Ensure that all customer quality systems requirements are being followed.

7.  Resolve external and internal customer & supplier quality problems in concert with customers, Marketing,  Corporate Quality Manager, and plant management

8.  Ensure quality compliance at the plant through close monitoring and periodic audits. Recommend and assist in implementing improvements as appropriate.

9.  Responsible for Advanced Quality Planning at the Plant. May lead or participate on AQP teams for new products or major process changes.

10.  Actively supports and manages within PBL, 10 Commitment and 8 People Principles

11.  Coaching and Development - assist each direct report in identifying areas that need improvement and coach them in ways to make positive changes

Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

·         7-10 years of specifically related manufacturing experience required.  Automotive supplier manufacturing experience required

·         Prior Quality management experience required

·         Certified Quality Engineer/Manager preferred

·         Working knowledge of ISO9000/TS16949 system requirements

·         Knowledge of Six Sigma Tools

·         Strong commitment to a team environment
