General Description:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities. The individual is required to contribute to harmony in the workplace.

Essential Functions:
Repairs and maintains machinery, equipment, physical structures, and plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and refrigeration systems of all Burke Marketing Corporation establishments; performs routine preventative maintenance checks; follows blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and service manuals to repair or maintain equipment; visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions; dismantles machines or equipment to gain access to problems; replaces worn and defective parts; repairs broken parts, using brazing, soldering, and welding equipment and hand tools; starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair; records maintenance activities; cleans and lubricates machine parts, using rags, brushes, grease gun, and oil can; paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion; cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings, using power tools and hand tools; patches or replaces plaster or plaster board and paints walls, ceilings, and trim of building; clears clogged drains, and replaces plumbing fixtures. Use computer maintenance management system daily.

Ensures safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems, and processes; trains plant employees on new equipment and modifications to existing equipment; maintains the safest possible work environment for employees; minimizes mechanically associated downtime.

Knows and understands minimum and maximum capabilities of equipment; analyzes reactions of equipment to variations in raw materials, product specifications, and design changes; customizes or fabricates equipment to meet present and expected future needs; determines equipment damage probability verses shut down for repair; performs chemical tests on required equipment and determines needed actions based upon results; installs and operationally checks new equipment.

Maintains parts requisitions and sign outs (including bill of material for project and parts research); ensures equipment changes are properly documented in the associated equipment manual; works within request/order system to include reassigning priorities according to present time events and circumstances; records time worked and time spent on individual tasks.

Decreases the risk of contamination by ensuring work is performed according to USDA and Good Manufacturing Practices requirements; identifies and corrects possible contamination issues; ensures equipment and materials are in accordance with USDA standards; works within OSHA standards.

Personal Qualifications:
A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required, plus 3-5 years of experience in machine systems repair and/or modification with integrated utility supplies. Integrated utilities include but are not limited to: electrical/hydraulic, pneumatic/electrical, mechanical/pneumatic.

OR

A graduate of an accredited vocational school with some experience desirable. Must be proficient in 3 of the following skills and possess a working knowledge in at least 2 others: mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, welding.

Must be mechanically-oriented, a team player, self-motivated, and willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required. Must possess manual dexterity, good communication skills, and the ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Must be able to follow instructions and demonstrate dependable attendance. Must have valid driver's license. Must pass pre-employment test.
