Grindroom Laborer General Description: This position is responsible for supplying meat to the grindroom from the meat receiving cooler, transporting raw meat from combos to the grinder and grinding of frozen meat. Essential Functions: Inspects meat; removes pallets from the grind room. Operates a metal detector belt and auger; grinds frozen meat; takes out trash and compacts cardboard. Gathers information from combos and pallets; enters information into Innatrack. Other Functions: May perform general housekeeping duties. Assists Mixer Operator as needed. May assist in tear-down of the grinders; breaks down paper combos and does pallet separation. Required Physical Activities: Standing, walking, pushing, lifting, bending, stepping up and down. Raises each combo by pumping up a hand operated pallet jack or using an electric jack. Pulls each combo with the pallet jack an average of 50 feet to the dumper. Unloads combos of meat from the combo dumper with an electric jack. Will occasionally lift 125 lb auger with assistance. Will also open and lift 60 lb blocks of meat. Equipment: Hand operated pallet jack, electric pallet jack, plastic combos, scales, combo dumper, metal and plastic paddle, knife, shovel, squeegee, hairnet, ear plugs, bump cap, boots, light blue frock and combo hook, metal detector, grinders, and Lock-out/Tag-out equipment, telxon scanner, scabber, pens, clipboards. Environmental Conditions: Temperature: 45-50 degrees in the grind room and 32 degrees in the cooler. Noise: 85-90 dBA Other: CO5 and mechanical and electrical hazards. Will work in areas that are wet or have fat/oil on the floor. Cooler may have frost on the floor. Personal Qualifications: High school education: desirable, but not required. 1 year production experience and 1 year of consistent work history strongly desired, but if your do not have experience people with a good work history would be considered. Good organizational skills, the ability to think ahead (anticipate), basic math skills, physical strength and endurance. Good communication skills and the ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Packroom Laborer General Description: The Pack Room Laborer rotates to a different work station each hour, performing repetitive tasks associated with the packaging of meat product. The work stations include: inspecting product quality, assembling boxes, filling bags with meat, sealing bags, weighing bags, and stacking boxes on pallets.
Other Functions: Keeping floor area clean; scooping up inedible meat product with shovel, mop up condensation; bring in or take out trash receptacles; set up or clean equipment; may inspect operations, report malfunctions to supervisor.
Required Physical Activities: Work is moderately to highly strenuous; lifting boxes of up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting of lugs up to 60 lbs., climbing ladders, repetitive motions, turning, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, talking, hearing, bending.
Equipment: Electric hand jack, tape machines, shovel, trash truck, squeegee, lugs, shaker table, conveyor belt, filler, bag sealer, handheld tape gun, calculator, pencil, clipboard, scales, stop watch, white plastic paddle.
Environmental Conditions: Temperature: 40-50 degrees in the pack room and -10 degrees in the freezer storage area. Noise level: approximately 92 dBA Other: CO?, vibration, and mechanical and electrical hazards. Will work in areas that are wet or have fat/oil on the floor. Freezer may have ice/frost on the floor.
Personal Qualifications: High school education: desirable, but not required. 1 year production experience and 1 year of consistent work history strongly desired. Manual dexterity, ability to maintain a rapid pace for extended periods, performing repetitive work. Simple arithmetic.
