PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE
Director of Rooms (DOR) is responsible for the day to day operations and long term planning of the Rooms Division (Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping and Laundry) for all lodging properties within The Canyons Resort. DOR is also responsible for financial execution and guest experience within the Rooms Division.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
AVERAGE % OF TIME
30% Develop, implement and oversee a consistent Five Diamond rooms division guest experience that is indigenous to The Canyons Resort and its clientele. Implement and maintain a guest request and defect tracking system all the while improving response time and reducing defects through root cause analysis. Implement and maintain a guest satisfaction tracking mechanism and deliver measurable improvement.
30% Execute industry standard financial accountability to include but not limited to; financial acumen of team, productivity based labor control, CPOR cost control and checkbook accounting. Deliver acceptable flow/flex based on top line performance and participate in forecast and budget processes.
25% Manage the human resources in the rooms division in order to attract, retain and motivate the associates. Hire, train, develop, empower, maximize efficiencies, coach and counsel, oversee performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.
10% Understand the varying HOA and RMA expectations and manage division appropriately based on these agreements.
5% Implement emergency / crisis preparedness procedures and training in conjunction with Public Safety department to ensure appropriate protection for hotel guests, staff and company assets.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Supervision is received from Vice President of Lodging.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to frequently walk from hotel to hotel to oversee operations in all buildings.
•Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
•Ability to sit at a desk for up to 4 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
•Ability to push / pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
•Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill inspection tasks.
•Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual activity.
•Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.
•Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Canyons standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
•High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s degree preferred to include 3-5 years related experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
•Experience managing multiple 4 - 5 Diamond properties.
•Experience working with a variety of property owners, HOA, and complex rental agreements.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of Company executives, managers and staff, condominium owners and boards, as well as various outside firms and organizations.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
•Public relations or guest service experience required.
•Experience developing lodging culture.
•Experience working within both branded and independent environments.
•Knowledge of accounting and legal contracts required.
•Ability to maintain an organized work space.
•Ability to focus on multiple tasks.
