Job Description:
The City of Fort Smith is seeking qualified applicants to fill 911 Dispatcher/Communications Operator positions in the Police Department.
The Communications Operator is under the guidance of the Supervisor and is responsible for answering phones in the dispatch center and dispatching units to handle the various types of calls received. This position is the link between the citizens who make the complaints and the officers and other departments that make personal contact and handle calls.
Qualifications include:
High School Diploma or Ged is required, minimum of one year previous experience working radios and dispatch equipment is necessary due to the fast paced nature of this position. Must complete ACIC/NCIC computer training and certification. Must be able to receive security clearance for confidential information.
