Job Summary:
Work in this area involves a variety of specialized tasks, including for but not limited to, semi-skilled and technical work in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic sign systems and the traffic pavement markings system. Work in this area involves a variety of specialized tasks, including but not limited to, the installation, layout, placement, and maintenance of all regulatory, warning, guide and traffic signs and all pavement markings (paint and preformed tape) in compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This employee reports directly to the Traffic Control Supervisor Signs and Markings or the Traffic Operations Supervisor in his/her absence. Position requires employee to perform emergency call duty.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- One year experience in any traffic related field preferred. May be substituted by a combination of related skills such as working in the roadways requiring traffic control or other related areas.
- IMSA Level I certification in traffic signs and markings or ability to obtain certification within one year.
- Traffic Control Supervisor certification or ability to obtain within one year.
- Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required within one year of hire date.
- Valid drivers license and a good driving record.
- Work Zone Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
- Spanish/English bilingual skills desirable.
Essential Functions:
- Operate and maintain paint truck. Includes daily operation during appropriate weather conditions, removal of old paint on the streets, daily upkeep of the truck, ordering of supplies when needed, and minor maintenance on the paint system itself.
- (Signs) Repair and installation of all street signs throughout Greeley. Includes fabrication of many signs, ordering of standardized signs and responded to requested signs from customers. Call for locates when setting signs.
- Recordkeeping including using GPS system to track and record all signs throughout the City of Greeley.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10`s and 100`s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American measurements of volume and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work at various heights and in confined spaces;
- Climb steps & ladders;
- Stand and walk for a prolonged period of time;
- Perform manual labor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
