Vice President – Operations

Job Location: Eau Claire, WI

Department: Business Education Center

Position Summary:
The Vice President-Operations is part of the President’s Cabinet and serves as the chief officer for College operations. In that capacity, this position is responsible for ensuring customer input and for providing vision, leadership, and audit of College operations.

Responsibilities/Expectations/Accountability/Duties:
  • Expectations
 Focus all actions and decision-making in alignment with the College Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan.
 Create and support an environment that focuses on value added learning.
 Demonstrate the College values of commitment, collaboration, trust, respect, excellence, and accountability.
 Promote excellence through continuous process improvement and the creative pursuit of new ideas, partnerships and systems.
 Work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners.
 Plan, communicate, motivate, measure and lead effectively.
 Assist in seeking outside resources through grant acquisitions and CVTC Foundation fundraising.
 Participate in professional development and life-long learning endeavors.
  • Accountability
 Oversight for facilities, technology, information services, budgeting, finance, and human resources departments.
 Provide vision and direction in the development of College technology systems that meet internal and external customers’ needs.
 Provide vision in the development of financial planning and viability of support services to meet the future needs of the College.
 Serve as the chief financial officer for the College.
 Develop and oversee an annual budget planning process for the College that ensures adequate operational and capital resources for effective College operations.
 Develop partnerships with business, government, and the community to leverage resources and services for the College.
 Ensure that appropriate instructional resources are available to all College customers.
 Ensure distance education systems that overcome barriers of time, distance, and place, and that accommodate learning styles.
 Promote a leadership model, which exemplifies a team-based organizational structure, utilizes quality management principles, and encourages continuous improvement.
 Develop effectiveness measures for the support services of the College.
 Serve on the President’s Cabinet.
 Coordinate all external legal services provided for CVTC staff, administration, and Board.
 Review CVTC policies, procedures, and processes to ensure legality.
 Coordinate the negotiation, review, and execution of contracts, leases, clinic site agreements and other legal documents.
 Serve as Custodian of all college records and coordinate the College’s responses to records requests.
 Ensure adherence to College policies and promote efficiency in the operation of College services and support functions.

Responsibility
  1.  Participate in the long-range planning process for the College.
  2.  Contribute to the achievement of the College-wide strategic goals.
  3.  Assist in the development of the annual College plan.
  4.  Support and promote the tenets of the learning College.
  5.  Conduct annual performance evaluations for function team leaders of facilities, technology, information systems, budgeting, finance, and human resources.
  6.  Collect and analyze College data and information to provide direction in College-wide decision making.
  7.  Act as a resource to all College-wide teams.
  8.  Ensure broad community input into the strategic direction and goal-setting process for the College.
  9.  Relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of financial budgeting and management and its relationship to College operations.
  • Knowledge of technology and its relationship to College operations.
  • Knowledge of facilities, physical plant and grounds.
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and processes.
  • Ability to establish and meet goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of the principles of quality management and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interpret and explain information to a variety of persons and groups.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledge and skill with technology including computer software programs for data collection, decision making, communication, etc. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities, community agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to use judgment, discretion, and decision making skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to various campuses.
  • Employment with CVTC is contingent upon successful completion of background check(s).
Necessary Training and Experience:
  • Master’s degree required; Ph.D. strongly preferred.
  • Leadership experience in an academic setting preferred.
  • Experience with long-range planning preferred.
  • Experience with collective bargaining preferred.
  • Experience working with a Board of Trustees preferred.

Full-time leadership position

Location:
This position is located at the Business Education Center, Clairemont Campus in Eau Claire and provides services to all our campuses throughout the eleven county district.

Work Hours:
Salaried position

Salary:
The salary range for this position is $87,500 - $127,500. This represents a 48-week contract spread over a 52-week fiscal year.
