Summary: The Gerber Operator will set up, adjust and operate Gerber cutting equipment (foam and fabric). Monitor to determine if adjustments are necessary. Ensure accuracy of work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management as necessary. - All operations of the Gerber Generalist.
- Review markers with Accumark specialist to develop beam speeds, knife speeds, cut sequence, piece layout and drilling sequence to minimize labor required to cut materials and perform with minimal covering.
- Set up, adjust and operate Gerber cutting equipment (foam and fabric)
- Monitor equipment during cutting cycle making adjustments as necessary.
- Utilize computerized control panel to enter codes to operate equipment. Utilize hand tools to make adjustments to equipment as needed.
- Verify paperwork and material to ensure accuracy prior to cutting. Make corrections as required.
- Verify cut parts meet quality standards. Perform recuts as required if miss cuts occur, document scrap, determine root cause with accumark specialist and correct cut file if required.
- Provide direction and assist offloader moving plastic during cut cycle, removing cut materials from cut table, replacing plastic and paper rolls.
- Train new Gerber operators and Gerber specialist.
- Support 5S process initiative by keeping work area clean.
- Notify Group leader / Maintenance when experiencing problems with equipment.
- Completes required documentation including but not limited to recording production quantities, downtime, scrap, through put.
- Responsible for injury prevention and promoting safety by keeping work area neat, clean and organized.
- Participates in employee wellness program.
- Performs miscellaneous other assignments as required.
- Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as listed above between the assigned start and end times for work.
