Position Summary:
Primary Purpose Of Job:Manages the development, execution and maintenance of the specified product line, taking the assigned product lines from concept through the entire product lifecycle. As part of a cross-functional team the Product Manager will interact directly with sourcing, engineering, sales, and finance in an effort to continue category growth and leading –edge innovation. An understanding of the new product development cycle as well as the ability to identify new product opportunities is required. Additional requirement includes the ability to interact directly with customers and senior level management.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Manage all product-marketing activities including new product development, pricing, packaging, line maintenance, promotion, etc. to optimize category profit and growth objectives
  • Approve assigned elements of product line launches including product specifications, packaging, promotions, and merchandising collateral
  • As product expert, regularly support Sales Team during product presentations to key customers
  • Research existing market conditions and conduct feasibility studies to determine market demand for existing products as well as new products
  • Identify new product opportunities and develop specific new product objectives to research.
  • Prepare and present business plans justifying new product opportunities and lead cross-functional team through the new product development cycle.
  • Maintain a current and thorough understanding of the business unit’s financial measurements
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape both domestic and globally to include competitive pricing, features, and specs.
  • Insure competitive product positioning within each appropriate channel respective to the category’s channel strategies.
  • Facilitate communication regarding category product and promotional activities to Sales Team and all other key functional teams.
  • Works closely with marketing research, sales, operations, distribution, advertising, advertising agencies and legal in the development of marketing plans.
  • Manage day to day activities related to product line
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • A BS/BA in business or marketing
  • 3-5 years experience in Marketing/Product Management preferred· Ability to handle multiple and complex issues simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail
  • General understanding of all domestic outdoor recreation/sporting goods customers
  • Cross-functional experience across multiple disciplines (i.e. Marketing, Design, Finance, Supply Chain, QA, etc)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with associates and to understand and anticipate their needs
  • Demonstrated strong ability to coordinate and manage relationships with other internal and external groups.
  • Strong presentation skills required· Software skill requirements include Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Previous SAP experience is a plus
  • Some travel may be required, including international travel.
