Description
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting the Team Leader-Nutrition Services with planning, implementing, and coordinating services within the nutrition services department of the Early Childhood Programs (ECP) in accordance with agency work plans, Head Start Federal Performance Standard 1304.23, and other related federal citations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for providing bilingual services for all functions, including translation of all documents related to nutrition services.
- Assist with the aggregation of CACFP data for ECP.
- Assist with monitoring Health files for food restrictions.
- Assist with nutrition articles for monthly newsletter.
- Assist with nutrition and dental referrals and follow-up.
- Assist with planning and implementation of nutrition education for staff, parents and children.
- Monitor meal service procedures to ensure compliance with CACFP and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Assist in conducting CACFP multi-site pre-approval visits and quarterly reviews, input computer information regarding CACFP & monitor & maintain data, and monitor CACFP record keeping procedures for meal services.
- Attend monthly parent meetings as scheduled.
- Deliver monthly menus to all Early Childhood sites.
- Maintain current perceptual inventory of each site’s food service equipment.
- Assist with distribution of nutrition education materials to sites for Tuesday folders, monthly.
- Assist with distribution of infant formula and food to EHS and SPP sites.
- Maintain documentation of nutrition in-service training including agendas and sign-in sheets and maintain current nutrition services database.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining Individual Nutrition Tracking of each child in EHS and SPP classrooms.
- Assist with updating the Nutrition Work Plan.
- Generate In-Kind dollars for the program.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information and records.
- Attend in-services as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Must have ability to communicate clearly in English and Spanish. Must be able to pass written and oral language competency test.
- Knowledge of the Child and Adult Food Program and USDA requirements is a plus.
- Knowledge of local and state requirements of prevention of food borne illnesses and health risks.
- Knowledge of basic food groups and serving size required for age group served.
- Computer skills required.
- Skill in following written and oral instructions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/G.E.D with 1-2 years experience in nutrition. Bilingual (Spanish/English). Basic-Intermediate MS Office skills. Intermediate MS Excel skills. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and current auto-liability insurance in employee’s name. Must obtain food handlers’ permit or food managers’ certificate and CPR/First Aid certificate within three months of employment. Position Preferences: degree in related field and accounting experience.
OTHER
Primarily an office position with local travel (exposure to normal traffic hazards). Work in food preparation area walking on wet or greasy floors and subject to noise and various odors. Work requires bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and pulling throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must use various kitchen instruments (both manual and electric), which could result in cuts, bruises, electrical shock, etc. Regular and reliable attendance required.
