3901BR Weld Engineer Grand Island NE - Nebraska Engineering Salaried To develop, maintain, analyze and assist in all traditional Manufacturing Engineering activities, such as processing new components into the manufacturing systems, supporting cost reduction programs, advising the Engineering Change Management Board, developing new process justification and participating in new model launches. To support in the transition to World Class Manufacturing processes and techniques. Must possess the skills necessary to serve as a team leader and participant in a team environment. Must have the demonstrated ability to provide production support in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, engineering problem solving, and cost reduction. Assigned responsibilities may include welding, robotics, tooling and fixture design and acquisition, and processing of new parts and assemblies. Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in cross-functional team environment supporting plant manufacturing operations including implementation of lean methods within the business. Establish methods and standards for new/changed parts. Work closely with design engineering and plant operations in developing processes and assist in the development of new products with manufacturing requirements as part of the development process. Analyze, document, investigate and implement corrections for process failures; and initiate and implement cost reductions. Provide leadership and work with other functions to help the plant meet goals in safety, quality, ISO, schedule performance, inventory and cost, and participate in a team environment. Other duties may include the need to establish economical manufacturing routings for a wide range of materials including castings and weldments. Develop and implement capital projects to improve material flow, reduce floor space requirements, and reduce costs. Assist in the development of justification for new capital equipment and manage the installation and startup of the new equipment. Provide support and participate in new product launch teams. Select correct tooling for new processes. Lead or assist in the design of new or revised tooling to be used in all phases of the manufacturing process, including fabrication, welding, and assembly. Provide production support in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, tooling engineering, inventory management, and cost optimization. The above list is not inclusive. Additional projects may be assigned to support the overall manufacturing process. Associates Degree in Welding Technology with a minimum of 3 years of related manufacturing experience OR a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Weld, Manufacturing, Ag, or Mechanical preferably) with a minimum of 1 year of related Manufacturing experience. Experience with the concept and process of welding parts and metal forming in a manufacturing environment. (Evaluated designs and supported in these areas). Experience with gas metal arc welding Possess the skills necessary to serve as a team leader and participant in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to provide production support in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, engineering problem solving, and cost reduction. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to read Engineering drawings Experience with Lean Manufacturing Experience with the resistance welding process Project management/continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment Welding certification Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills CNH is an Equal Opportunity Employer
