Brief Description of the Job:
Provide graphic and branding services to all City departments by creating, executing, and overseeing promotional and informational graphic material for public information. Maintain and build upon the City`s brand standards. Meet with employees (clients) discussing a projects creative strategy and gather information including key facts, objectives, primary message and mandatory requirements, budget and costs relating to printing and deliverable specifications. Concept, design and execute projects for all City departments which include booklets, brochures, flyers, programs, invitations, advertisements, posters, signs, banners, maps, newsletters, logos, web graphics and photography. Manage and coordinate with vendors who provide the City`s automated stationary ordering system and adjust to any requests needed to streamline the system. Assist Public Information Administrator with any web based graphics. Maintain a strong relationship with vendors and clients regarding the printed project. Work with vendors to provide the City with the most cost effective project solutions. Also keep up to date on new technologies in the printing industry that may benefit the project. Provide photography services to all departments and have a working knowledge of DSLR cameras and lenses. Photograph, document and store images of City personnel and various city events for us in City publications and marketing materials. Maintain the city`s digital asset management system.
- Job Duties
Graphic Design (80%): Meet with clients and discuss the creative strategy and budget of new/proposed projects. Research, conceptualize, design, create and proof projects for clients. Collect all print specifications for printing. Bid project to several print vendors. Revise projects based on client requests. Collect and approve a print vendor for the project. Prepare project files for printing--purchase any stock photography, adjust color modes in files and images, collect all supporting file and send to print vendor.
Photography (15%): Take request for images of city streets, parks, employees, city events and project-based requests and collect specifications for the shoot. Prepare camera, lenses, and lights for photography projects. Photograph projects and events as assigned. Conduct post-production work to include color adjustments, healing/cloning, and enlarging/cropping. Save and archive files for publication or marketing materials, as well as archive photos in the City`s digital asset management system. Outside service requests--collect images to be burned to CD, emailed or shared via the city`s digital asset management system.
Maintain Brand Standards (5%): Maintain automated ordering system for the city`s stationary requests (business cards, letterhead, and envelopes). Receive requests that are not available through the system and adjust the system for those that warrant a need. Receive and review proofs from outside vendors regarding the City logo and colors. Receive brand color requirements and logo request from vendors on employee projects. Send City brand color charts and logo to vendors requesting these items.

Computer Equipment and Software: Personal computer, printer, scanner, DSLR camera, lenses, lights and graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, to include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom and Acrobat; and the Microsoft Office suite).
Overall Working Conditions: Good: Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.

Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and tedious or exacting work. Occasionally requires irregular schedule/overtime and working closely with others as part of a team. Rarely requires noisy/distracting environment.
Job Requirements Formal Education: Bachelor`s degree or equivalent in graphic design is required.
Experience: Over two years of experience in graphics and printing processes required. Expert level knowledge and competency in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop) and professional ability and experience in photography are required.
Driver`s License Required: Class D South Carolina Driver`s license.
