Description:
We are actively seeking a Technical Design Supervisor for our Mississauga location. The role of the Technical Design Supervisor is to partner with our client to deliver consistency of fit, construction, and quality within and across all Brands. The Technical Design Supervisor will ensure Vendors are conforming to client standards and specifications. They will lead the Technologist in the achievement of the Brand vision for fit and quality.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Gain proficient knowledge of all department function and sample flow
  • Take charge of the associates within the team
  • Provide a positive impact on the quality of all spec packages and reports being produced
  • Learn and understand internal database and client processes
  • Partner with Brand team to establish Master Blocks and deliver consistency of fit within and across all Brands
  • Conduct benchmarking research to verify body dimensions, specifications, and grade rules are industry standards
  • Adhere to the Critical path to ensure spec development and fit comments are achieved on time
  • Technical support to our client, Technologist, and Vendors on fit, quality, construction, and safety throughout the product development cycle.
  • Participate in daily production meeting with Managers and advise on any outstanding issues; prioritize and balance workload.
  • Manage in-house daily report to ensure on-time standard.
  • Assist team members on issues regarding spec package, fit, and quality to ensure accurate consistent results.
  • Conduct audits on all reports, document, review and communicate results of error log with each technician on a weekly basis to continually improve the quality and accuracy of their work
  • Work with Manager to identify and execute opportunities for process improvements, corrective actions and preventative controls
  • Motivate, evaluate and resolve conflicts with staff
  • Responsible for associates year end appraisals
  • Promote cross-training with the team.
  • Other responsibilities as required


  • Skills Required:

  • Government regulations related to area of specialty
  • Safety standards related to area of specialty
  • Pattern-making skills
  • Fit analysis of garments on mannequins and or live models
  • Quality Assurance, Grading, Textile, and Sewing construction
  • Experience with one or more area: Childrenswear, Menswear, or Ladieswear
  • Communication Skills: verbal and written skills with solid import experience and global perspective
  • Strong Managerial skills to lead a team
  • Well-developed motivational, problem solving; time-management and decisionmaking skills.
  • Analytical skills, attention to details, ability to multi-task
  • 5+ years of work experience in Manufacturing, Product Development or Equivalent

    Educational Requirements: Fashion Design or Merchandising Degree or Equivalent

    Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting of mannequins during fit evaluations and carrying basket or garments to and from work stations.

    Computer Skills: Microsoft Ofice Applications
