Position Summary:

The successful Business Development Specialist will grow contract R&D, product development and production backlogs by identifying and securing new business, as well as maintaining professional relationships with the existing customer base. In addition to bid and proposal activities and executing the company’s Sales Process successfully, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for understanding our technical products and capabilities and differentiating them from our competition through market and competitive research, customer and partner relationship management, sales planning, pursuit capture planning, market and opportunity development, and capture strategy development.   Candidate must have a history of achieving sales results in aerospace, defense, or other high tech industry and conversion of leads into bona fide proposal opportunities must be a core competency.  Individual must be a dynamic, technical sales person and communicator.  Develops and manages day-to-day business relationships and opportunities. Coordinates with internal resources to capture new and follow-on business.  Coordinates quotes or proposals.  Maintains effective communication on all aspects of opportunity status including progress, problems, and appropriate resolutions. Follows goals set by management.  Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under general supervision.


 

Essential Job Requirements:

 

Education:

·         BA/BS degree in engineering, marketing, business administration, or other related field

Experience:

·         At least 4 years of related and proven experience developing and closing sales bookings

 

Required Skills:

·         Strong oral and written communication skills, bid & proposals

·         Strong capture management, sales process, deal making, and negotiation skills

·         Ability to build a bookings pipeline to meet objectives and goals for new and follow on business

 

Preferred Skills:

·         Demonstrated Sales Training, related professional development
Knowledgeable in ISO:9001, AS9100, or similar standards

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to travel

 

Other Requirements:

 

·         Performs other duties as assigned

·         Position requires US Citizenship for purposes of obtaining security clearance. Additional clearances may also be required.
