The location of Lynchburg, Virginia is seeking a professional for the position of Control Engineer. The incumbent will report to the Engineering Manager and will execute, prepare and check the auxiliary cabling and schematics in line with customer specifications, internal and international standards considering the best optimized approach in terms of cost and quality. The incumbent will deliver support to Quality and Production Departments and perform necessary tests on control boxes in factory and site.
Analyze the customers specification; Design and engineer control circuits for medium power transformers;
Choose all electrical equipment (accessories), materials and define the quantity. Analyzing the cost before ordering;
Participate in design & gate reviews with customer and other internal functions;
Propose new ideas through design stage, by solving technical issues throughout the design progress;
Answer technical questions and requested reports, received from the customer and from Quality & Commercial department;
Search and analyze new products, trend in the market and apply them into new designs;
Prepare and check the schematics and control box drawings;
Prepare the CML (critical material list) regarding all electrical components/accessories at early design stage;
Design cost and calculates the material savings vs. to EAS;
Guide the final assembly or field service teams as required to fulfill operational start-up.
- Develop bid costs for refurbishment of controls used in power transformers and substations;
Skills and Qualifications:
Computer skills (MS Office, ERP, Auto-CAD);
Transformer and control material knowledge;
Communication and project management skills;
Analytical thinking and problem solving skills;
Relay and protection knowledge preferred.
B. S. in Electrical Engineering
3 years experience with schematics & cabling design (ANSI-CSA);
Good skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.);
- Experience in the transformer industry would be desirable.
