Dow Corning currently seeks a SEC Research and Reporting Accountant for a position at our Midland, Michigan facility.

Must have un-restricted employment authorization to work in the U.S.

Job Skills/Requirements
- Support the global finance organization and senior management by providing well developed and understandable technical accounting guidance
- Provide technical accounting expertise while advising the organization on its significant business issues and/or major transactions
- Perform accounting research of technical accounting issues related to revenue, inventory, financial instruments, equity investments, compensation, leases, pensions, derivatives, etc.
- Write position papers to document the organizations conclusions for specific transactions that involve complex accounting treatment
- Contribute to monitoring and implementing new U.S. GAAP pronouncements and SEC reporting requirements
- Provide assistance in the convergence of U.S. GAAP and IFRS
- Participate in development of globally applicable accounting policies
- Develop and provide training programs for domestic and international locations related to technical accounting issues
- Participate in analyzing proposals to change SAP system workflows, ensure the continued proper application of accounting principles

Position Requirements:
- 10+ years experience that includes a combination of experience in a public accounting firm as well as experience in a public company setting
- Exceptional technical accounting knowledge related to a range of technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition, pension accounting, derivatives, restructuring activities, leases, purchase accounting, foreign currency, fair value measurements, goodwill impairment, etc.
- Knowledge of external reporting requirements including the FASB codification as well as SEC rules and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to research an accounting issue, document conclusions and implement action plans to ensure proper application of accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience with unusual transactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to develop relationships across departments and cultures and to work with global teams as both a leader and a participant
- Ability to work independently and proactively to identify issues and offer solutions
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an environment of changing priorities
- Experience with integrated accounting systems, preferably SAP R/3
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley internal control requirements
- Experience with a multi-national manufacturing company
- Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards is desirable
