Dow Corning currently seeks an Application Development Engineer for a position at our Auburn, Michigan facility.
Must have un-restricted employment authorization to work in the U.S.
Job Skills/Requirements
This person will support the growth of the Electronics Business Unit through Application Development (AD) activities. The specific initial focus will be in the area of molding and application testing of silicones for optical devices used with LEDs. The primary objective of AD is to develop and fully understand selected new applications/opportunities, and then properly document learnings. Once developed, the application knowledge will be transferred to traditional Technical Service and others via presentations, reports, papers and technical sales tools. The role includes hands-on application development, understanding all the parameters involved with new technology. This will require working with external customers, product development and equipment suppliers to ensure the market and customer needs are being met exactly. Over time, this expert is expected to provide guidance to Marketing and Management related to product application, application testing and application development technologies. The role will also involve support of new product development projects and some traditional Technical Service activities.
Position Requirements:
- The ideal candidate is hands-on and has an analytical mind; ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Has experience and is willing to do lab work independently.
- Has experience with mechanical equipment or systems design or service.
- Has excellent organizational skills; showing initiative, ability to work efficiently and passion to document their work.
- Is able to manage several projects at the same time.
- Has good communication skills.
- Is creative, a team player.
- Experience with fluid mechanics, heat transfer and processing high viscosity fluids is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Electronics is an asset.
- Knowledge of Designed Experimentation is an asset.
- Has basic skills in MicroSoft Office applications.
