Position Description:
Functions as a skilled-level technician who is able to perform most, if not all, repair types and diagnose vehicle problems and may specialize in particular areas of repair.
Performs all work as outlines of repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaint and inspection, determines cause of malfunction and performs necessary repairs.
Communicates with parts department to obtain all necessary parts for each repair order.
Saves and tags all parts of the job if under warranty or as requested.
Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlines is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within promised time.
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Documentation should be a clear narrative of the work performed so the customer record is well documented.
Road tests vehicles when required to aid in determining the problem/complaint or making sure the problem/complaint has been resolved.
Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events as required. Some travel may be required for these programs and events.
Conducts themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times while representing the company on/off premises.
Stays current on all technical service bulletins from manufacturer.
Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles as requested for for obvious damage, missing components or drivability functions.
May be required to install optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
Reports any machinery or equipment defects/malfunctions to a supervisor.
Ensures customer cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to the change of the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Keeps shop area (stalls) neat and clean.
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools, manuals and equipment. Returns all items to proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
Understands and stays current on and complies with all federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-know and base regulatory functions and other safety related matters as required.
Maintains a safe working environment for themselves and others and adheres to company safety policies and procedures.
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Attends service meetings as required.
Marginal Duties that are deemed non-essential may be assigned.
Position Requirements
Associate`s Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Automotive Technology Experience:
2 plus years of experience in auto maintenance/repairs Computer Skills:
Desktop Computer skills are necessary for performing the functions of this position. Familiarity with databases to input, select and retrieve information is standard. Must be able to navigate the internet and present information as required. Basic word processing and/or spreadsheet use to create any letters, reports and or charts necessary during the scope of the job. Certifications & Licenses:
Valid unexpired Kansas driver`s license with an acceptable driving record.
ASE Certifications are a plus
I-Car Certifications are a plus
