Job Location: Elkhart, IN
Paraprofessional Special Education Mild Interventions (Blind Low Vision)
6.5 hours per day; 187 days per year.

Required: A copy of college transcripts showing a minimum of 48 hours of earned college credit, or obtained an associates degree (or higher), or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local assessment (Paraprofessional Test) the following: knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, or knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, as appropriate. Experience working with children with disabilities; wholesome and understanding attitude toward children; ability to use proper English and communicate well; pleasing personality; willingness to learn and expand general knowledge; ability to take initiative and work independently. Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Job duties for a Blind and Low Vision paraprofessional will include, but are not limited to:
- Adaptation of a variety of materials for students who are blind or have low vision.
- Manipulating Word documents, pdf`s and various downloads for creating accessible materials for students.
- Utilizing braille translation software to create braille documents.
- Organizing and managing student materials and/or equipment.
- Carry out teacher-created lesson plans in a 1:1 setting.
- ** Training and supervision will be provided by the Certified Blind and Low Vision teacher.
$9.51 - $13.32 per hour
