INSTRUCTOR, INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM - OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION International Education - Posted Apr 23, 2013
Rank/Unit: Temporary Instructor This temporary appointment carries no expectation of continuation and the standards of non-reappointment do not apply. Terms of appointment: Nine months (August to May) Summer appointment will be assigned based on program needs. Salary: $30,000- 32,000 Primary Duties: Essential Duties: - Teach four ESL courses each semester (Fall and Spring) at the Emporia State University Intensive English Program.
- Establish and maintain regular office hours.
- Attend all IEP faculty meetings.
- Coordinate and assist in English placement exam at the beginning of each semester.
- Participate in extracurricular activities sponsored or promoted by the IEP and the Office of International Education (OIE). Such activities may be on and off campus.
Other Duties: - Participate in professional development activities conducted within or sponsored by the program.
- Develop course materials.
- Is encouraged to maintain membership in professional associations (TESOL and MIDTESOL).
- Shares in substitute teaching assignments within the program when possible.
- Mentors the programs lecturers and tutors when appropriate.
- Participate in internal and/or external program reviews, where applicable.
- Other duties according to program needs.
Qualifications: - A Master`s in TESOL or ESL from an accredited U.S. university is required.
- Two or more of years of experience teaching English as a second language is preferred.
- High level of English proficiency: good command of written and spoken English
- Dynamic and culturally-sensitive teaching skills.
