ESG is looking for a self-motivated individual to join its Operations Services team as a Landfill Gas Facility Technician at its Pecan Row Landfill Gas Facility in Valdosta, Georgia. The following job description provides more details about the position.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Landfill Gas Facility Technician position centers around a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plan equipment and systems. The Technician provides technical understanding of and practical experience with the distribution, production, and components associated with natural gas compression, gas quality monitoring equipment, condensate, electrical motors, paralleling switch gear, motor control centers, variable frequency drivers, compressed air and compressors, pumps, refrigeration systems, air handlers, pneumatic and low voltage control systems. The Technician operates, maintains, and performs basic repairs on most equipment and systems in the facility. This individual will be responsible for following safety programs for all facility activities and equipment, as well as assisting and maintaining trouble call procedures for the facility. The Technician must maintain tracking for long-term performance evaluations and adherence to baseline requirements for his/her respective facility. The Technician must be available for after-hours call-in support in the case of an emergency and/or non-emergency situation.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Apply technical understanding of and practical experience with distribution, production, and components associated with: Natural gas compression, gas quality monitoring equipment, condensate, electrical motors, paralleling switch gear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, compressed air and compressors, pumps, refrigeration systems, air handlers, pneumatic and low voltage control systems
  • Start-up activities including troubleshooting and establishing performance expectations
  • Maintain tracking for long-term performance evaluations and adherence to baseline requirements
  • Maintain safety program for all facility activities and personnel:
    • Safety training
    • Tagging and labeling
    • MSDS administration
    • Injury reporting
    • Drug testing
    • Proper procedure for all maintenance activities
    • Procurement of all safety equipment, inventory, and maintenance
  • Assist and maintain establishment of trouble call procedures for facility that effectively communicates problems and recommends proper course(s) of action
  • Assist and maintain program to provide dependable tracking procedures and allow a continuous means of evaluating trouble calls, response time, responsibility, and further action required
  • Provide after-hour call-in support in the event of an emergency and/or non-emergency situation
  • Work proficiently with various computer systems and PLC equipment to run various reports and log appropriate data
  • Complete all training modules as required by the position and/or management
  • Perform all duties as deemed necessary by management


Job Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least five (5) years` related experience

Preferred:

  • Associate`s degree or Technical degree with six (6) to eight (8) years` related experience and/or training
  • SWANA course completion and/or certification

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and a general working knowledge of computer systems and controls is a MUST
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work alone
  • Ability to proficiently operate various electronic panels on machinery
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or government regulations
  • Ability to compose and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Maturity and professionalism to effectively communicate with all levels of ESG management, clients, customers, and the public
