ESG is currently looking for a highly motivated professional to join our Northeast Region team as a Construction Manager. ESG prefers that this individual have a Bachelor`s degree with five to seven (5-7) years of related construction experience. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is also preferred. As with all candidates hired by ESG, the selected individual`s employment will be contingent upon a drug test and background check. Below are details and requirements of the Construction Manager role that will be considered in addition to the aforementioned requirements.
JOB PURPOSE
The Construction Manager assists with managing the installation, commissioning, and completion efforts associated with major energy improvements in institutional and/or governmental facilities. The Construction Manager performs a number of tasks, including by not limited to: assembling subcontract agreements and exhibits for subcontractors; ensuring payment to vendors; scheduling various pre-construction, subcontractor, and owners meetings; monitoring the quality and safety of subcontractors at various sites; completing substantial documentation for completion and final completion of projects; overseeing equipment installation and keeping projects running on schedule. The Construction Manager must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse workforce and customer base and be able to travel occasionally.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assemble subcontract agreements and exhibits for subcontractors
- Coordinate payment schedule and pay applications Ensure payment to vendors by monitoring materials used and processing invoices billed against the direct purchase order to vendor from ownership Schedule and manage pre-construction meetings, subcontractor and owners meetings
- Monitor quality and safety of the subcontractors on various sites, adhering to OSHA standards
- Work daily with customer and subcontractors to resolve unforeseen issues with the project
- Resolve punch list items upon project completion
- Create substantial completion and final completion documentation, and coordinate and manage meetings for ownership signature
- Oversee closeout of projects, collect OEMs and As-built drawings for project close-out to be turned over to ownership
- Coordinate collection of sign off sheets
- Collect and write daily reports of project progress
- Oversee equipment installation, keep projects running on schedule, coordinate with other subcontractors, order inspections, and resolve conflicts in design
- Produce and process change orders to the project contract
- Maintain, manage and train on current technology
- Perform all duties as assigned by senior management

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
Minimum:
- Bachelor`s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years related construction experience (preferable in performance contracting)
Preferred:
- Bachelor`s degree (BSME or BSEE) from four-year college or university
- CEM is preferred
- Five (5) to seven (7) years related construction experience (preferably in performance contracting)
- Two (2) or more years management experience
- Performance contracting experience with HVAC, electrical, power generation, steam, chilled water, hot water, thermal storage, control design, and mechanical systems is highly valued
- OSHA, Federal and State safety regulations experience is valued
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interface effectively with a diverse workforce and customer base
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and other computer programs
- Organizational, accounting, and project control capabilities
- Ability to manage design efforts
- Project development skills, involving scope of work development and estimating
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret mechanical and engineering periodicals and schematics, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulation
- Ability to compose and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to travel
- Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members at ESG, as well as with external organizations, customers, and the public
